Our Story

Not Your Typical Tour Company

BASE FIJI started the way most good things do — someone who loved what they were doing decided to share it with others. That someone is Cormac Brown, a surfing and fishing enthusiast who planted himself on Fiji's Coral Coast and never really felt the need to leave.

Based out of the Beachouse Resort in Korolevu, BASE FIJI is a small, family-run operation. There's no call centre, no corporate office, no fleet of identical boats with matching polo shirts. It's Cormac, a tight crew of local lads, and a genuine passion for getting people out on the water.

The idea was always simple: offer real experiences, not packaged ones. Every charter is custom. Every trip is tailored to what you're actually after. Want to spend a day chasing fish offshore? Done. Want to kayak a remote river and not see another tourist? We know the way.

The Crew

Local Knowledge, Real Experience

Our staff are all local — born and raised in the villages along the Coral Coast. They didn't learn about these waters from a training manual. They grew up swimming in them, fishing in them, and navigating them long before BASE FIJI existed.

That kind of knowledge doesn't come from a certification — though we've got those too. Every member of the crew holds current first aid and CPR qualifications, and BASE FIJI is fully licensed through MSAF (Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji). Safety is never an afterthought.

But beyond the credentials, it's the personal touch that sets the crew apart. They know the tides, the seasons, the spots where the fish are running, the reef passages where the coral is healthiest. And they're genuinely happy to share it with you — that's not a sales pitch, it's just how people are out here.

Community

Part of the Village

We've got close ties with the villages along the coast. It's not something we put on a poster — it's just how things work when you live and operate in a community. The crew are from these villages, the knowledge we rely on comes from generations of local people, and we think it's important to give back where we can.

Whether that's providing support during cyclone season, contributing to village projects, or simply making sure that tourism benefits the people who actually live here — it matters to us. We're not saving the world, but we're trying to do right by the people around us.

Fully licensed and registered with the Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji. All vessels surveyed and compliant.

First Aid & CPR

All crew members hold current first aid and CPR certifications. First aid kits on every vessel and trip.

Fully Insured

Comprehensive insurance coverage for all activities. Safety equipment provided on every trip, no exceptions.
